In Depth & In Focus

a podcast by Third Space Studios.

Vinnie & Ty deep dive into every aspect of the human experience through the eyes of their extraordinary guests, while taking you behind the scenes into their own world as filmmakers.

SEASON 1

EPISODE 1 - Defining moments that redefined us

Vinnie & Ty set the tone for the season by doing what they do best - getting deep. An opportunity to let all their walls down and share the impactful experiences that redirected the course of their journeys. Through their work, they often hold space for others to be vulnerable in front of the camera. Now, it’s their turn.

EPISODE 2 - Unlocking the power of vulnerability with Jana Christodoulou

Jana kicks off season 1 as our first guest, and with an absolute bang! In this episode, (and as always) she wears her heart on her sleeve, speaking candidly about the shame she felt growing up after losing her mum, her still rocky relationship with her dad, and how her story, despite feeling messy and uncomfortable at times, has made her who she is today.

EPISODE 3 - Changing the landscape around grief with Danielle Snelling & Eloise Baker

Grief and loss are tricky to navigate. There’s no rule book and it looks completely different for everyone. But for something that all of us are going to experience, why are we so shit at talking about it?

We sat down with the Danielle & Eloise to talk about their own experience of losing the most important person in their life.

EPISODE 4 - Unpacking anxiety, and redefining masculinity with William Balme

Growing up for William, his masculinity was very much defined by his ability to live up to his father’s stature, AFL legend Neil Balme, as a talented footballer.

William has since completely redefined his own version of masculinity through softness, vulnerability and showing raw emotion. He lays everything bare in this episode, as he recounts his extraordinary journey from being his own worst critic, to embracing the fact that he’s just a work in progress, as we all are.

EPISODE 5 - Why community sport needs to lift its game fast with Dr. Aish Ravi

Women and girls are still fighting for fair access and basic necessities within community sport in Australia.

In Episode 5, we sat down with Dr Aish Ravi, who is at the forefront of this change. Having played sport for most of her life, Aish has experienced some of these barriers firsthand and has made it her mission to create positive change in a system she believes isn’t built for women and girls to progress, as players or in positions of leadership.

EPISODE 6 - Turning intergenerational trauma into change with proud Gurindji man, John Burgess

We felt strongly about using this episode as an opportunity to deconstruct some of the misconceptions around Australia’s First Nations history, particularly in regards to January 26 and the referendum that took place earlier this year for an Aboriginal voice to parliament. John takes a light hearted approach to some of these heavy topics, but is very matter of fact in answering our questions.
